2nd time back here and loved it again! Its warm, inviting, dimly lit and excellent food. We ended up spending 4 hours here over dinner and didnt even realize! For appetizers, we had the olive tapenade which was absolutely delicious! We also had the endive salad, panisse and croquettes, which were good, not great. For the main course, we had the ravioli and maitake mushroom dishes. Both were excellent, very flavorful. My husband said it's the best mushroom he's ever had!! And I cannot leave out the souffle, it was absolutely divine!! It was about a 20 mins wait and comes to the table nice and hot with fresh chocolate sauce poured on top table side. I recommend asking for a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. The portions are small so we were full after our multiple dishes but the entres alone would not have filled us up.

I ordered my usual eggs benedict. It’s good for its price but I think the sides can be improved and the hollandaise be served fresh. The ambience is cool though with all the classical interior deco and their staff were friendly.

Tucked inside the storied Hotel Chelsea, Café Chelsea feels like a love letter to Paris penned in the language of New York cool. The French-American bistro, with its neoclassical flourishes and art-laden walls, exudes the kind of timeless elegance that makes you wonder if it’s been here forever. . From breakfast through late-night dinner, the menu is a curated blend of French classics and inventive twists. Morning regulars rave about the French toast—custardy, golden, and subtly sweet—while the steak and eggs and smoked salmon offer savory starts. Brunch brings the merguez sausage and Nicoise salad, both praised for their authenticity and balance. Come evening, the hanger steak with maître d’hôtel butter, steak tartare, and roast chicken emerge as standouts, alongside indulgent sides like goat cheese croquettes and chickpea fries. Dessert is no afterthought: the almond tart and chocolate soufflé have earned near-universal acclaim. . The atmosphere is as much a draw as the food. A fabulous main dining room where tables are set close enough for a lively hum without losing intimacy. The space’s historic charm—accented by original artworks from the hotel’s collection—pairs beautifully with the brasserie’s warm lighting and polished service. . If there’s a caveat, it’s that popularity can mean a bit of noise and tight seating. But for those seeking a slice of Paris in Chelsea, Café Chelsea delivers: refined yet approachable, steeped in history yet vibrantly of-the-moment. Whether for a languid brunch, a romantic dinner, or a glass of wine at the bar, it’s a place that invites you to linger—and to return.

The decor and atmosphere is wonderful. Beautiful marble, ceramic and brick accents to pull together a timeless look of a popular and classy French bistro. The steak tartare and caviar dishes were wonderful. Ravioli famously good. The salmon in parchment was perhaps the best dish. We really enjoyed our meal and will be back.

They’ve done a wonderful job renovating the Hotel Chelsea and the newly added bars and restaurants continue that excellence. We had a fantastic holiday meal here with tons of delicious apps entrees and desserts. The cocktails were on point and we had a night cap at the lobby bar. Can’t wait to return. This place is young chic and vibrant but with old world charm. I see them going strong for years to come!
